What's the best way to buy your Hawaii or Hawii airplane tickets?

1.  Before you can compare airfares, you need to know which island you want to fly to.  If your main destination is Maui or Kauai or the Big Island of Hawaii, you can save time and save changing planes by flying directly to that other island instead of flying first into Honolulu on the island of Oahu.

2.  Shop the web.  Go to each airline's website to check out their flights and air schedule and air fares.  Go to travel websites like Expedia and Travelocity to compare several airlines at once.

3.  Ask your travel agent about package deals.  You can sometimes save money by buying a package that includes airfare together with hotel or condo or rental car in Hawaii.

4.  Use frequent flyer miles.  Call whichever airline you have mileage points on and ask whether you can use those points for a free flight to Hawaii.
